Forming a New Nonprofit Organization
Forming a new nonprofit organization and obtaining tax-exempt status from the Internal Revenue Service is offered as a package for new organizations. Services included are two meetings with the organizational group to discuss its purposes and explain general nonprofit requirements, drafting and filing the articles of incorporation, drafting the bylaws, holding the organizational meeting, drafting initial policies, drafting the banking resolution and any loan documents required to initially fund the organization, and drafting and filing the tax-exemption application with the IRS. The cost of this package of services is $3475, which inclues the filing fees: $16 (articles) and up to $750 (IRS).
Obtaining Tax-exempt Status from the Internal Revenue Service
For organizations already in existence, drafting and filing the tax-exemption application with the IRS is $2,750, which includes my professional services and the IRS filing fee of up to $750.
Assessment of Organizational Operations
A thorough review of the organization from both the legal and operational vantage points is undertaken for $5900. Beginning with a self-assessment process for leadership, staff, and board members to examine working relationships, this review involves an in-depth examination of the organization's records, procedures, and policies. Inteviews are held with key staff and board members, and a written report with recommendations is presented and discussed in-person with the organization's leaders. Strictly Legal Services
I prefer to negotiate fixed-price fees for legal services in order to eliminate any surprises for you, the client. If the client desires hourly billing, legal services are available at the hourly rate of $200. Travel time is billed at $50 per hour plus usual travel expenses.
